I have ordered the book you recommended.  I am curious.  It was set in 1918-1919.  Much has changed in the last 100 years.  But to quote a famous phrase by author William Faulkner: "The past is never dead. It's not even past."
 
I will watch the YouTube channels you suggested too.  I am a skeptic by nature.  I do not believe the media in the West either.  Nor do I believe Russian media.  (I have been reading pravda.ru). The most believable media comes from people live-streaming video from Ukraine.  The mothers crying over their dead children.  Pregnant women being hauled on stretchers from the hospital.  I have a young musician friend from Ukraine.  I believe her and her family and what they are seeing.  I believe the videos her friends share.  They do not want to be Russian.  They were born Ukrainian and wish to stay Ukrainian.
 
Oligarchs - In the West they call them businessmen, entrepreneurs, and billionaires.  But they should call them oligarchs here too.  Everyone is a pawn compared to the power they wield.
